    Re: Raising Taxes

It seems that when the education system, not teachers per se but the administrations of the bloated districts, want to get more money they cut programs rather than streamline administration and overhead.  I don't know of any person or business, when faced with diminishing income doesn't cut every extra they possibly can and only spend that which is necessary to stay afloat.

There are far too many people employed by the myriad of school districts who would rather cut a childs education than their paycheck.  Teachers are underpaid?  If that fact is accepted then why not start cutting the bloated salaries of administration?  Each and every school district has an administration staff, along with each and every school.  There is an organization that is funded by the school districts, Idaho Association of School Districts, the function of which to me is a real question.

Most states have school districts by county which are overseen by the State Board of Education or the Superintendent of Public Instruction's Office.  There are about 130 school districts in the State of Idaho and only 44 counties?  That tells me there are at least 130 places we could cut back at least some administrators position and give that money to the district and probably much more if the districts combined by county.  There isn't a county in this state that is so remote that it could not be administered from the county seat.  Face it, we are being held hostage by the bloated bureaucracy of these school districts.  We are in a financial bind because we have "depended" on Government taking care of the things we have been too lazy to take care of ourselves.  We the people have not been involved sufficiently in the operation of each level of government, that includes the education system, and we are paying for it now.

I pray that we are not too late.  But tax increases of any kind, especially property tax increases, are not something that most of us can afford.  Those that can afford it should not push those of us that cannot.
